Since the collapse of Somali's central government in 1991, the country faced numerous conditions, including political unrest and forming ideological sites and more attitude ideas adapted by a lot of people and then established different groups.

Innocent people are very puzzled what is going in the country, followed by unpredictable future. After that, disorder and enormous decrease of reliability of citizens’ expectation appear, nepotism and regrouping both became part of people’s life circle. Converted standard principles convent into Jungles’ law everyone initiate using his own power.

Over two decades, the country grappling conflicts and additional that sometimes natural disasters damage its history and citizens' lifestyle, Anything, which was recognized forbidden act, changed legal one and people learnt new skills about how to make corruption. By steps or gradually spread the dishonesty act in society. Day’s activities in Somalia united with deceit movement; people use it like weapon to overcome their needs so as to facilitate. Lack of superior government mostly leads to illegal stuffs such as paying bribery without hiding. Political analyzers believe that corruption has massive role to do with violence and unrests in the country.

Can Somali’s corruption is measurable?

In fact, a report quoted by Business-ant-corruption.com had shown the level of Somali's corruption as first. The information generally discovers key sectors involved into dishonesty. it exists in many sectors including legislation, judicial system, public services, land administration, sharing natural resources, civil society and other sectors. Separate report, according to world investigative agencies, Somalia has added or recognized the most corrupt country in the planet. Political expert suggested avoiding any things can lead to people paying bribes.

54 countries, in African continent have been criticized for corruption, but there are vulnerable countries. Those struggling countries such as Somalia are at risk of it. After the collapse of Siyad Barre administration, still there isn’t fully functioning government. But there is hope as the ongoing process to rebuilding the strong law is on the way. Interpreters said corruption grows within the community as an epidemic disease if there wouldn’t be accountability.

In 2012, Somali citizens have got non-transitional government over 20 years later. At that time, former president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud has won campaign election.  During his term in office, separate reports had shown the level of corruption across the government’s sectors. Those reports have revealed the methods of corruption. Somalia is also ranked the first position at International’s Corruption Perception Index.

On the other hand, the current president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo announced to fight corruption - describing as national enemy in parliament speech. He has also promised reforming the judicial agencies. But it is hard for Somalis to realize combating corruption as they believe it has already spread over the country. If a new strategy will be put in place, it could be achieved gigantic development, however.

Corruption’s impact on Somalia

Some of Somali unit forces will face lack of aid, after US government announced to cut the assistance for corruption allegations and mismanagement. United States had pending food and fuel part of Somalia soldiers for period. US State Department told Reuters that decision came after discussions between the Somali federal government and both sides agreed that the National Army had failed to lead the standard for accountability for US assistance, although the official said the United State would continue the small support Somali especial forces mentored by US.

Somali Army mostly supported by international community; the political interpreters have argued that the cutting can lead to weakness and al-Shabab re-organizing. The president who has spoken about the decision called the officials and commanders to continue fighting against al Shabab which still controls large parts of the country. This case proves that epidemic corruption phenomenon has already reached its highest level even in the army. But the government as it is declared is struggling stopping and eliminating the sources of corruption.

Why Somalia is vulnerable to corruption?

Lack of power full government for over two decades has considered as main challenge which facilitate the spreading corruption in the country and paying briberies without hesitate on whole sides such as political issues and even education. Before the collapse, the corruption level was low, but after 1991 the dishonest became normalized. Previous government’s particularly transitional ones and current federal government makes promise for erasing corruption but at the end, it fails to deliver.

Economic scarcity and less work opportunity are also emphasized to use corruption acts, it is possible for many people to decide it when they hard to get to work or service to comply paying anything that makes their wants easy. Therefore, corruption rapidly broadens in people then they use as necessary things, in this situation, a lot of people tend towards corruption issues by facilitating their own private interests. Natural disaster occurs in the country include torrential rains and droughts caused starvation and corrupted donation.

If we fight the corruption sources together and everyone takes his responsibility, at least we can win to decrease the corruption level. Moreover, it is important to evaluate any works marred with corruption in anywhere. The countries having immobile governments will be victims for corruption cases. But as a society, if we get strong and united strategies and policies, we can totally get rid of dishonesty acts and all related corruption issues. In my view, in the century, corruption has no place to our lifestyles. We must speak up and stand for the elimination of all kinds of corruption.
