Does Somalia need to ban plastic bags?

More citizens live around the world especially developing countries, they use plastic bag daily, once utilized it they drop out into roads and it affects the environment sanitation. As biodiversity experts indicated that it could be became most dangerous for the people and the environment. A lot of people prefer using plastic bags because it is easy for every person to get it, some others don’t desire it but they haven’t second option.

The consequences of plastic bags include environment damage and to leave using unique baskets, which were used a long time ago.  The problems in third countries include lack of awareness and weakness from the government’s plans for the sanitation. Occasionally, Plastic bags are leading to diseases including contagious and resistant. On other side, livestock usually eat the plastic bags and then suffer from maladies.

In my country, Somalia, the people are mostly using the different kinds of bag plastics as a basic need.  I can say in my observation Somalia is one of the countries which uses regularly the bags. If the citizens had gotten full understanding, regularly notices, they would value plants, animal microbes, and any other thing could lead to location damage and poor sanitation. Over two decades, the country has faced chaos and destroyed environment agencies, and the people don’t yet get enough awareness.

Nowadays, in Africa there are some attempts that are being doing by several governments, the aim of those efforts are to organize environment’s institutions. Earlier this week, Kenyan government has banned the using sack plastic. Every one or any commercial center has been ordered to comply with the regulation, which already has signed. The government has said after this outlawing, anybody who tries to sell plastic bags or use it, will face four years in jail or $40,000 Dollar of fine.

Previously, the Rwanda government had been prohibited plastic bags, other countries includes Italy, China, and France as well as. Al Habib Al-Habr is an expert who stays in Kenya and work with UN, he confirmed that the sack bags could effects human’s health through in fish and other animals. Slaughtered livestock including cow has been removed bags from their stomachs. The expert has recommended avoiding using the plastic bags as possible.

Do Somali citizens need similar Kenyan’s decision? Indeed, in Somalia plastic bags are constantly used, the roads even highways of Mogadishu appear more plastic stuck on the infrastructure sides.

The plastic bags indirectly affected the city’s attractiveness and citizen’s health. Many commercial centers in Somali capital sales containers of plastic bags, the community can make their role to prevent the risks of bags, but the toughest role is on the hand of the government.
